We are seeking a visionary Director of Industry Marketing to lead our event marketing practice and elevate the Walmart Connect brand on a global scale. Lead Experiential Marketing for a Retail Media Powerhouse

As the Director, you will be the architect of Walmart Connect’s experiential marketing strategy. Your primary mission is to set the long-term vision for our event portfolio and lead a dedicated team in creating unforgettable moments that spark industry-wide connection.

You will oversee a diverse range of high-impact activations from premier industry tentpoles like CES and Cannes Lions to our own signature executive gatherings. This role demands a unique blend of strategic foresight, operational excellence and inspirational leadership to ensure every experience consistently strengthens our brand narrative and delivers tangible business outcomes.

A Detailed Look at Your Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for the end-to-end strategy and execution of our event marketing efforts, requiring a balance of creative direction and meticulous management.

Strategic Vision and Leadership
In this capacity, you will define the “why” and “where” for our experiential marketing, setting a course that aligns with ambitious business goals.

  • Set the overarching experiential vision and develop the comprehensive annual event strategy, optimizing for scale, purpose and return on investment.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team of 9+ event professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, clear accountability and continuous growth.
  • Build strong, trust-based partnerships across Sales, Marketing, Creative and Communications to ensure cross-functional alignment and accountability.
  • Guide the creative and experiential development process ensuring all concepts powerfully reflect the Walmart Connect brand story.

Operational Execution and Performance Management
This aspect of the role focuses on the “how,” translating strategic plans into flawlessly executed events and measuring their impact with precision.

  • Oversee all internal and external event planning and execution ensuring every experience is consistent, scalable, efficient and aligned with business priorities.
  • Provide decisive onsite leadership at major activations, upholding the highest brand standards and solving complex issues in real-time to ensure seamless delivery.
  • Manage all event budgets with expert-level oversight including forecasting, contract negotiations and invoice management in close partnership with the Finance department.
  • Define and monitor key success metrics, leading quarterly reporting to deliver actionable insights and data-driven recommendations for future initiatives.

The Ideal Candidate: Qualifications and Expertise

We are looking for an accomplished leader with a proven track record in shaping high-stakes experiential marketing programs within a fast-paced industry.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree should be in Marketing, Communications, Business or a related field.
  • 10-15+ years of progressive experience in large-scale event strategy, experiential marketing or production.
  • Proven success in a senior leadership role with experience leading and developing a team of event professionals.
  • Deep domain expertise within the media, advertising, retail media or technology industries.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking abilities with a talent for building, documenting and presenting a compelling long-term vision.
  • Strong operational acumen, capable of anticipating details, solving problems and ensuring excellence across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience managing large, complex budgets and a demonstrated ability to build trust and alignment across diverse, cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required for events and key meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ experience in communications, project management or event management OR 7 years’ experience in the same areas.
  • Must have 3 years of supervisory experience.
