As an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC), your primary mission is to plan organize and direct cyber and IT activities that meet strict legal, regulatory and Department of Defense requirements. You will serve as a senior technical advisor, designing and managing systems that meet current and future business needs while enhancing the existing architecture.

Your leadership will drive innovation and process improvement ensuring the integration of complex IT programs and developing solutions to critical interoperability issues. You will be the bridge between technical teams and senior leadership, translating complex cyber concepts into actionable business decisions.

Strategic IT Planning and Systems Management
In this capacity, you will be the architect of the organization’s IT future ensuring that technology aligns perfectly with mission objectives and evolves to meet new challenges.

  • Plans organizes and directs cyber, IT and information management activities to ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and Air Force directives.
  • Designs, develops and manages systems that meet current and future business requirements, continuously working to extend, enhance and optimize the existing IT architecture.
  • Establishes strategic plans of action to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of all IT applications and services.
  • Evaluates the impact of emerging technologies on mission needs and business practices that providing foresight and guidance for future investments.

Leadership, Coordination and Advisory
This aspect of the role requires you to be a leader, a diplomat and a trusted advisor, capable of guiding teams and influencing decisions at the highest levels.

  • Leads multi-disciplined teams to ensure mission completion and represents the organization with higher-level management and external contractor organizations.
  • Serves as the senior technical advisor on all cyber and IT activities, briefing senior management officials on complex systems, requirements and procedures.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with coordinating offices across the Air Force, Department of Defense and with outside organizations.
  • Prepares and presents detailed briefings on complex and sometimes controversial issues that providing clear recommendations to support informed business decisions.

Resource Management and Procurement Oversight
Your analytical skills will be crucial in ensuring the organization’s resources are used effectively to meet its evolving cyber and IT needs.

  • Considers the organization’s resources while developing plans and makes recommendations to leadership regarding the reprioritization of funds to support critical IT enhancements.
  • Provides the Contracting Office with essential technical oversight during the procurement of IT assets and services ensuring value and compliance.
  • Formulates the life cycle cost of IT resources, prepares detailed justifications for funding submissions and communicates complex technical requirements to non-technical personnel.

The Essential Qualifications and Mandatory Requirements

Mandatory Citizenship and Legal Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Male applicants must be registered for the Selective Service.
  • This position is subject to the provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program.
  • The incumbent must achieve the appropriate Information Assurance Certification within six months of assignment.

Position-Specific Conditions:

  • This position may require an appropriate security clearance. Employee must maintain current certifications.
  • Employee may be required to work non-standard hours including evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • This position may require drug testing and the candidate may be subject to passing a drug test upon selection.
  • If authorized, Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs will be paid in accordance with Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) and Air Force Regulations.
